When they are used on acupressure points they have the added bonus of targeting specific processes in the body. In this blog post, I will share some of the most important oils to use along with acupressure points and breath awareness practices to release emotions like fear, anger, and worry.
Black Spruce For Working With Fear
Black spruce helps to release feelings of anxiety and fear. It is an adaptogen and improves the body's response to stress. Black spruce helps in reestablishing and nourishing our roots which can assist in relieving survival fears. This oil is perfect for our current situation. It also acts as an immune enhancer and respiratory restorative. The kidneys are associated with the emotion of fear and provide the deepest connection to our prenatal Qi and vital energy.
Place a small amount of black spruce on each pointer finger and gently hold against the acupressure point kidney 3. As you gently hold this point, breathe slow, full, deep breaths into your lower belly. Tap into any feelings of fear and anxiety in your body. Connect with those feelings on the inhale and visualize yourself releasing them through the breath on the exhale. Continue this type of breathing until you sense a shift through your whole body.
Lavender For Working With Anger
Lavender is one of the most well rounded and frequently used essential oils. It is the best essential oil for releasing muscular-skeletal tension. Many people use it to help improve sleep disorders and for overall relaxation. It can be an excellent oil for dealing with emotions like anger, irritability, depression, and moodiness. The liver is associated with the emotion of anger. It is the organ that is most impacted by stress and helps to process and deal with intense emotions. Lavender has great cleansing and calming properties and is perfect for moving stagnant liver energies.
Place a small amount of Lavender essential oil on each fingertip and gently, with light pressure place your fingertips on Liver 3. As you gently hold this point, breathe slow, full, deep breaths into your lower belly. Tap into any feelings of anger and irritability in your body. Connect with those feelings on the inhale and visualize yourself releasing them through the breath on the exhale. Continue this type of breathing until you sense a shift through your whole body.
Bergamot For Working With Worry
Bergamot is the best essential oil for releasing nervous system tension. It can help to uplift negative moods and assist people in getting out of their heads. When we get caught up in negative thinking it can spiral into debilitating worry. Bergamot helps to open up our perspective and allow higher truths to enter. When we are overwhelmed with stress and get caught up in worry often time our digestive system is negatively impacted. Bergamot essential oil has the added benefit of supporting the digestive system and helping calm an upset stomach. One of the most powerful acupressure points for relieving nervous system tension is a point in the ear called Shen Men. Using bergamot on Shen Men can help to reset your nervous system and rebalance the right and left hemispheres of the brain.
Place a small amount of Bergamot essential oil on each fingertip and gently, with light pressure place your fingertips on Shen Men. As you gently hold this point, breathe slow, full, deep breaths into your lower belly. Tap into any feelings of worry and anxiety in your body. Connect with those feelings on the inhale and visualize yourself releasing them through the breath on the exhale. Continue this type of breathing until you sense a shift through your whole body.
